Children's Day: the yearnings of childhood
My childhood has passed
I want to see her come back
But…
How can I no longer
I reflect to the children everything I look for
The above excerpt is from the poem "Saudades da infância", written by the poet Mauro Felippe, about the innocences present in youth, about the energies and freedoms that children possess. Many people find themselves reminiscing about the good old days, the games between friends, games, fertile imaginations, and a range of possibilities ahead. Many are the artists and singers who point to the return to childhood. So many classic pieces of MPB exalt youth like Old Childhood (Tribalistas), Child's play (Molejo), It's good to be a child (Toquinho), Parents and Children (Legião Urbana), Twelve Years (Chico Buarque).
Longing is common, but enjoying and having fun (no matter how old) is equally rewarding. Place of illusion, fantasy, curiosity, childhood can be repeated when moments of relaxation are harnessed. Enjoy this children's day, and use the opportunity to miss the amusement of past times. After all, it's never too late to be happy.
