Proclamation of the Republic: learning from the past
The voice of the past
Today is in my hands
Moral inheritance
Positive - Sentimental
The above passage is from the poem "The Voice of the Past", written by the lawyer and poet Mauro Felippe and published in the book Nine, of 2014. It is an allusion to how humanity can still learn from the past and help create a better future. It combines, in a timely manner, with the comparison of Brazil's past and with the Republic, which, when instituted in 1889, learned from several previous attempts at independence. According to historians, the previous movements served as a support so that the coup, on November 15 of that year, was successful.
Author of several works, Nine was the poet's first publication. In the book, Mauro addresses everyday issues and human behavior in a lyrical and critical way. With intense and colorful illustrations created by Rael Dionisio, his reflections gain polychromatic and alive tones, gathering even more force to his words.
With 400 pages of written and illustrated content, the reader can venture into the world of Mauro, with his almost 200 poems and chronicles in this book alone, page after page presenting a detailed, critical and peculiar view of everyday society.
